Open ship in Hirtshals

If you’re anywhere near Hirtshals, take the opportunity to look over the new Beinur tomorrow. The new pelagic vessel will be open from 1400 to 1700 tomorrow (Sunday 24th July) and the Danish Pelagic PO, which has its offices over the Cosmos Trawl net loft overlooking the quay, will be offering refreshments to visitors.

Karstenens Skibsværft in Skagen has completed the new Beinur, the latest in a series of pelagic vessels built to the yard’s own designs. Beinur will be open to visitors tomorrow afternoon (24th July) at the Notkajen quay in Hirtshals.

The new Beinur replaces a vessel built in 2006 that has been bought by the owners of the Christina S. The new pelagic vessel is skippered by Fridalv Tindskard and Gunnar Nols√ł, while the company behind Beinur is managed by Fridalv Tindskard, together with his brother Runi, sister Elin and Gunnar Nols√ł. Founder Virgar Tindskard remains an active partner.

‚ÄėKarstensens Shipyard welcomes the trust company has shown. Like the other pelagic vessels yard has under construction, Beinur our own design. The yard offers a complete concept where every solution is optimised and tailored to the individual line specifications and requirements. The yard is independent of all its suppliers, which makes optimisation very flexible,‚Äô Kent Damgaard at Karstensens said.

‚ÄėThe layout and arrangement have been designed in very close collaboration between the owner and the yard, and Beinur is an ultramodern purse seiner/trawler, with special attention to optimising working conditions, safety and comfort for the crew. The vessel is built and equipped to very high specifications, with electric winches and a retractable combination bow thruster.‚Äô

Beinur measures 78 metres overall with a 15.50 metre beam and has a 2999kW Wärtsilä 6L32 E2 main engine driving a 4200mm propeller optimised for speeds between 90 and 115rpm to ensure optimal bollard pull and good steaming capacity. This is the first large pelagic vessel of its kind to be equipped with electric Ibercisa winches.
