First of Russian fleet’s new generation approaching completion

With the first of the series of multi-purpose fishing vessels for the Russian Far East 90% complete, the initial trials are already in progress.

The 50.60 metre overall, 12 metre beam Leninets is being completed for the Lenin Collective Farm in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka, and is the first of the new wave of modern fishing vessels being built for the Russian fishing fleet at Russian shipyards.

According to the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad where Leninets has been built, a workforce of 200 people is currently working to get the new vessel outfitted for delivery.

This is reported to be the first Russian fishing vessel to be built for a Russian operator at a domestic shipyard for around twenty years, making the forthcoming delivery of Leninets a significant event. The order for Leninets and sister vessels Kommandor and Udarnik was placed with Yantar and the trio have an SK-3101R design by Norwegian company Skipskompetanse.

The three vessels are powered by 2200kW main engines and have RSW capacity. They will be able to work demersal and pelagic trawl gear, as well as purse seine and seine nets.
