Larsnes Mek Verksted delivers second of seiner pair

A new vessel capabel of alternating seine netting with purse seining has been christened at the Larsnes Mek Verksed yard at Larsnes in Norway, designed by Naval Consult and built for owners Arvesen AS in Ibestad in northern Norway.



The new Nordhavet is a near-identical vessel to the Sander Andre which was delivered at the end of 2017.



The design behind Nordhavet has been developed by Naval Consult with Arvesen AS’s Børge Arvesen, Einar Tore Esaiassen at Maritime Competence and with Jarle Gunnarstein at Larsnes Mek Verksted.



The partly outfitted hull of Nordhavet was built in Poland and launched at the Remontowa yard to be shipped to Norway for outfitting.



Nordhavet has a 38.65 metre overall length with a 9.25 metre beam and measures 499gt. Accommodation is in four single cabins and three twin cabins.



The 25-tonne combination winches can hold 12 coils of 54mm seine rope.



There are six RSW tanks with a 420 cubic metre total capacity and a CO2 RSW system and the carrying capacity includes options for holding live fish. A vacuum pump system is used for discharging fish and catches can be pumping from the fishing gear.



Tank capacities on board are for 75 cubic metres of fuel and 25 cubic metres of fresh water, plus a 16 cubic metres of ballast/trim tanks
