21 metre freezer netter/liner from Raudeberg yard

The Stadyard shipyard at M√•l√ły in Norway has signed a contract with Aver√ły company Kenfish II to build a combination freezer gillnetter/longliner for delivery in June 2018.

The new vessel is being built to a Seacon SC21 Max design, with a 20.99 metre overall length and a 10 metre beam, and will be Stadyard’s newbuild number 40, Seacon’s 19th newbuild and the fifth in a series of Seacon-designed vessels built at Stadyard/Blaalid.

‚ÄėSeacon has been working on the development of the SC21 design with a comprehensive feasibility study, together with the ship owner and the shipyard. In particular the owner's strong focus on quality and fish processing has been essential. They also placed strong emphasis on safety and comfort for the crew,‚Äô said Seacon‚Äôs CEO Rune Stian Nybakk.

‚ÄėSeacon has for several years been developing new concepts for this type of vessel, and this has many similarities to larger coastal vessels that Seacon previously designed. This contract is another confirmation of Seacon‚Äôs leading position in fishing vessel design,‚Äô he said.

The new vessel is designed to alternate gillnetting and longlining, and is expected to be fitted out with a Netop net hauler and a Mustad Autoline system capable of deploying 60,000 hooks. Deck cranes are to be supplied by Dimo.

Deck and catch handling equipment suppliers are Stranda Prolog and Marel and the new vessel will have a 190 cubic metre refrigerated fishroom and a Nilsen Kulde CO2 refrigeration system.

The main engine is a Yanmar 6EY17W driving a Finn√ły reduction gear and propeller, while the auxiliary engine is a Baudouin 6W126S and side thrusters are to be supplied by MB Hydraulikk.

The 20.99 metre design has accommodation for a crew of ten in four twin and two single cabins.
