New pelagic vessel for France Pélagique

Havyard Ship Technology in Norway has signed a contract for a new pelagic trawler to be built for French company France Pélagique, with an option for a second vessel.

Part of the Dutch Cornelis Vrolijk Group, France Pélagique has its headquarters in Paris. The new vessel will be equipped with the latest technology for sustainable catching and processing of species including herring, mackerel and blue whiting.

The new 80 metre fishing vessel will have several innovations both in terms of safe working conditions for the crew and energy efficiency.

’With this new fishing vessel, we will strengthen our efforts in future fisheries; with a focus on maintaining healthy fish stocks, reduce environmental impact, and have dedicated and proud employees,’ commented France Pélagique’s CEO Antoine Dhellemmes.

’We look very forward to the delivery of the vessel as an important milestone in 2018, the year France Pélagique celebrates its 30th anniversary.’

The new vessel is expected to be delivered in December 2018 and will replace two older vessels that date back to the 1980s.

France Pélagique has developed the new fishing vessel in close co-operation with Dutch ship design company ADS. Havyard will contribute greatly to the continuation of this work in design and engineering services.

’We are very grateful to be awarded such a prestigious contract and hope we meet the high expectations of France Pélagique,’ said sales director Lars Conradi Andersen. ’Design work will start immediately and will together with previously signed contracts ensure good activity at the yard in 2018.’
